• ≥18 years
• ≥1 pharmacy claims for apixaban or warfarin during the identification period (July 1, 2013 to December 31, 2017)
• BMI ≥30 kg/m² or body weight ≥100 kg*
• ≥1 medical claims for AF prior to or on the index date^† (identified by ICD-9/10-CM codes)
• BMI or body weight reported within ±6 months of the index date^†
• Continuous health plan enrollment for ≥6 months pre-index date^†

Excluded

• Diagnosis of mechanical heart valve/mitral stenosis, heart valve replacement/transplant, VTE, or transient AF 6
  months prior to or on the index date^†
• Hip or knee replacement surgery 6 weeks prior to or on the index date^†
• Pregnancy during the study period
• Pharmacy claim for an OAC 6 months prior to the index date^†
• Pharmacy claim for >1 OAC on the index date^†
• BMI or weight outliers (i.e., BMI <11 kg/m² or >175 kg/m², weight <30 kg or >500 kg)
